Leesburg Civic Ballet is a division of the Dance Academy of Loudoun and offers top level ballet training and community performances to Loudoun County and surrounding areas. We have 80+ ballet company dancers in five different company levels. We offer 30+ hours of ballet instruction at the ballet company levels per week. Our company dancers take ballet classes between 2 and 6 days per week depending on age and ability. Foundational ballet classes are also offered throughout the week for dancers not in ballet company.
Our instructors are all former professional dancers with a passion for teaching the next generation. Our instructors bring diverse backgrounds and teaching styles including: The Vaganova Method, ABT National Training Curriculum, and Balanchine technqiue, to prepare our dancers for modern American professional ballet careers, if they so choose. Ballet classes start at age 5 and progress through pre-professional levels. Pointe work and variations are offered for the more advanced students. Select dancers compete in ballet competitions such as YAGP. Our students have placed at YAGP regionals and invited to YAGP finals.
Leesburg Civic Ballet presents an annual Nutcracker Ballet every December with dancers from Leesburg Civic Ballet and the Dance Academy of Loudoun. In the spring the company performs a Spring ballet such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Giselle, Midsummer Night's dream, Don Quixote, and many others.
